Young Arts Bursary Awards 2024

2024 Awards

This year, 2024, four candidates stepped forward, two from The Cotswold School and two from Burford school.

In 2024 The Arts Society Cotswolds awarded bursaries to the following students:
Elizabeth Bradley (Burford School)

Elizabeth’s A-level art coursework focused on her project “The art of botanical forms”. This led her into her repeat pattern wallpaper concept, which coincides with her passion for interior design. Elizabeth studied the renowned artist, William Morris, and his work inspired her to create her own wallpaper, using natural forms from his own garden at Kelmscott Manor.
Elizabeths botanical studies stemmed from her love of the natural world, and she wanted to challenge herself to capture the beauty and simplicity of nature, whilst introducing an aspect that is unexpected within each piece, for example, the altering compositions of mixed media and material, using gold leaf and Lino printing.

Neve Stanworth (Burford School)

Neve’s work was based on the theme of time, through which she explored ageing and the effects of time on various aspects of life. Neve created approximately eight final pieces throughout her development of this topic. Another part of her coursework and exam piece followed her chosen theme of “Light in the Landscape”, which, during the 15 hour exam she produced a triptych in acrylic. The subject was enhanced from a photo of her home, where she was inspired by impressionism and fauvism to show light and colour in abstract ways and enhance the theme she was given.
Neve has previously donated art work for to charity auction in 2019, and again in March 2022 in the first fundraising auction to highlight mental health awareness in the Falklands. Neve is a mental health student ambassador and keen to support such an important cause.

Libby Henesy (The Cotswold School)

Katharine Gibbons (The Cotswold School)

2025 rings in a new Young Arts representative, Angela Clarke who will be working with the schools again this year.
